Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred claimed Eugenie goes big on headpieces as they give her her “signature” style.
She said: “Like all fashion-forward thinkers, Eugenie has a recognisable and signature style. One of Eugenie’s most favoured pieces are headpieces.
“From classic headbands to pillbox hats to haute-couture headpieces worn to events such as the Royal Ascot, Eugenie loves to show off her style credentials through interesting head accessories.”
Princess Eugenie appears also to be a fan of dresses, often going for the midi type.
Midi dresses are labelled the perfect balance between “stylish and modest” and can be worn on many occasions.
The style expert explained: “When it comes to dresses, Eugenie is often seen in high-necked, midi styles.
“Midi dresses spark the perfect balance between stylish and modest and are extremely wearable for a variety of occasions.
“Eugenie often opts for a high-necked style, which is flattering for more fuller-busted women and will never go out of style. Most notably, we’ve seen these styles during Eugenie’s appearances at the [late] Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration in 2022 in Emilia Wickstead and in Peter Pilotto at The Anti-Slavery Collective’s fundraising gala in 2023.”
The Princess of York’s fashion taste correlates with that of one of her sister-in-law, Princess Kate, according to the stylist, as they are both fans of the coat dress.
Ms Watkins said: “A favourite among royal fashionistas, the coat dress is the perfect way to look formal on colder occasions and can be adapted for day and night.
“Eugenie’s love of coat dresses can be chronicled all the way back to 2005 when she wore a collared black style for the Service of Prayer and Dedication following the marriage of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles and more recently at Kate Middleton’s annual Christmas Carol in December 2023.”
However, whilst the Princess of Wales is known for her love of polka dots and stripes, it appears Eugenie is known for her love of florals, which show her “sense of fun and love for the classics”.
The stylist chimed: “From her Whistle’s look at last year’s Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel to the Erdem dress she wore to the Royal Ascot in 2018, Eugenie’s floral styles show off her sense of fun and love for the classics.”
A firm favourite of the royals, Eugenie is almost never seen without a clutch bag when she makes an appearance.
The princess is usually seen with a classic black clutch so as to not take away the focus of her more elaborate outfits.
Ms Watkins added: “Eugenie is hardly seen at a royal appointment without a trusty clutch bag.
“A perfect way to tie an outfit together, Eugenie often opts for a classic black clutch so as not to take away from her often show-stopping outfit.
“Again, this shows her true love of classical fashion whilst letting her dress do the talking.”
