Following the 2017 release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Salazar\u2019s Revenge in the UK), plans were afoot for another film.<\/p>\n
Johnny Depp had wanted to give a fond farewell to his much-loved Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates 6.<\/p>\n
However, Disney ended up dropping the star after 2018 domestic abuse allegations were made by his ex-wife Amber Heard, which he strongly denies.<\/p>\n
Since winning his US libel case against her in 2022, fans have been hopeful that the\u00a0A-lister will reprise his swashbuckling character in a new movie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is in the works at Disney and now a new report claims the studio wants Depp back, but there\u2019s a catch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
According to respected and reliable scooper Daniel RPK, Disney is reportedly considering bringing back Depp as Jack Sparrow in Pirates 6, but it would only be in a supporting role.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This corroborates with MyTimeToShine\u2019s leak last month that the film\u2019s lead will be a female Haitian. This scooper added: \u201cAlso they do want Johnny Depp to come back just not as the lead.\u201d<\/p>\n
The star\u2019s fans have been vocal since he was initially dropped by Disney, saying in unison that Pirates 6 won\u2019t work without his Sparrow in the lead role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Fans have previously commented: \u201cThis movie is going to tank. Can\u2019t do a pirates movie without Depp as the star.\u201d<\/p>\n
Others said, \u201cFlop\u201d, \u201cSo the franchise is over\u201d, \u201cBad decision, Bookmark this\u201d, \u201cWoke. Dead on arrival\u201d, \u201cNobody is going to watch it\u201d, \u201cNo Johnny No Pirates\u201d.<\/p>\n
