{"id":25244,"date":"2024-02-04T20:49:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T15:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/farratanews.online\/martin-lewis-urges-people-to-check-eligibility-for-5300\/"},"modified":"2024-02-04T20:49:23","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T15:19:23","slug":"martin-lewis-urges-people-to-check-eligibility-for-5300","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farratanews.online\/martin-lewis-urges-people-to-check-eligibility-for-5300\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Lewis urges people to check eligibility for \u00a35,300"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In his weekly Money Saving Expert newsletter, Martin Lewis highlighted eligibility for Attendance Allowance from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).<\/p>\n<p>New research from Money Saving Expert and Policy in Practice found over a million people who qualify for the benefit are not claiming it.<\/p>\n<p>The personal finance expert said ill or disabled people aged over 66 years old could be entitled to over \u00a35,300 per year \u2013 and the allowance isn&#8217;t means-tested.<\/p>\n<p>Attendance Allowance is for ill or disabled pensioners who require daily living assistance, no matter their income or savings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifying information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be of state pension age (66 or above)<\/li>\n<li>Finances are irrelevant<\/li>\n<li>Require a condition that means you need &#8220;help&#8221; or &#8220;supervision&#8221; with daily tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Qualifying health conditions include Parkinson&#8217;s, dementia, terminal illness, blindness, learning difficulties and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Help&#8221; with daily tasks could look like:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help getting washed or dressed<\/li>\n<li>Help to eat<\/li>\n<li>Help to go to or using the toilet<\/li>\n<li>Help telling people what you need or making yourself understood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Supervision&#8221; means needing someone to watch over you to help avoid danger to yourself or others.<\/p>\n<p>Any physical or mental disability or illness that impacts daily life could mean you are eligible for the benefit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;Crucially, you don&#8217;t need to be receiving this help or supervision,&#8221; Martin Lewis clarified.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What&#8217;s important is that you&#8217;re thought to need help due to the severity of your condition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Martin Lewis added: &#8220;You&#8217;ll need to provide evidence that you could&#8217;ve benefitted from this help for at least six months.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are two rates available; the basic rate is worth \u00a368.10 weekly, which totals up to \u00a33,541 a year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This amount of extra cash applies to those who require daily assistance either during the day, or only just the night.<\/p>\n<p>If you require daily living assistance both day and night then you could get \u00a3101.75 weekly, up to \u00a35,291 per year.<\/p>\n<p>This payment is also offered to those who require daily living assistance who have had a professional state they have 12 months or less to live.<\/p>\n<p>These amounts increase on April 6 each year, in line with inflation.
