{"id":16372,"date":"2023-12-20T19:10:17","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T13:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/farratanews.online\/news-station-helicopter-crashes-in-new-jersey-woods-killing-pilot-and-photographer\/"},"modified":"2023-12-20T19:10:17","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T13:40:17","slug":"news-station-helicopter-crashes-in-new-jersey-woods-killing-pilot-and-photographer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farratanews.online\/news-station-helicopter-crashes-in-new-jersey-woods-killing-pilot-and-photographer\/","title":{"rendered":"News station helicopter crashes in New Jersey woods, killing pilot and photographer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com\/image\/upload\/t_fit_1500w\/rockcms\/2023-12\/231220-nj-helicopter-crash-mb-1306-963fe2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"\">A Philadelphia news helicopter crashed in a wooded area of New Jersey on Tuesday night, killing the pilot and photographer on board, the television station said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The helicopter was returning to Philadelphia from an assignment at the Jersey Shore when it went down in Washington Township, New Jersey, around 8 p.m., WPVI-TV reported early Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The cause of the crash is under investigation and the pilot and photographer who died were not identified.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThey have a long history with our station and have been working as part of the Action News team for years,\u201d the news station said, calling it a &#8220;devastating day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The New Jersey State Park Police received a call just before 11 p.m. Tuesday about a missing helicopter in the area of Wharton State Forest, Chief George Fedorczyk told reporters early Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A debris field was discovered shortly after midnight &#8220;in a remote location&#8221; near Mullica River Road in the area of Middle and Quaker Bridge Atsion roads in Washington Township, the chief said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A Federal Aviation Administration representative will conduct an initial assessment this morning, and the scene has been secured by New Jersey State Park Police.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The FAA said in a statement just two people were on board the chopper \u2014 a Eurocopter AS350B2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"endmark\"><em>This is a developing story.
