For over half the people who recover from COVID-19<\/u>, some symptoms linger for as long as three years, according to a new study published this week in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Among 1,359 COVID patients in China, 54% of them still had at least one symptom three years after contracting the virus, a press release said.<\/p>\n
Most of the symptoms were mild to moderate in severity.<\/p>\n
COFFEE AND COVID: COULD DRINKING 1 OR 2 CUPS A DAY REDUCE THE SEVERITY OF THE VIRAL ILLNESS?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Researchers from China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing also found that the patients who had long COVID had a higher risk of getting pneumonia<\/u> or repeat cases of COVID with the omicron variant.<\/p>\n Among the people with long COVID who became reinfected with omicron, researchers found that 62% experienced newly occurring or worse symptoms, compared to 41% of those who did not have long COVID.<\/p>\n
