“Wear it with a classic shirt in your favourite colour and heels to look more formal or with a t-shirt or top and a pair of trainers for a more casual, ‘everyday’ look.”<\/p>\n
A classic skirt will never go out of style, and can take a woman through all four seasons. Deirdre suggested: “In the winter, zhuzh up your look with a great pair of long boots and a camel coat for added timeless style.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
A classic skirt can be “maximised” by mixing and matching to be worn for different occasions and to be dressed up or down, with the addition of a few well-chosen accessories.<\/p>\n
Deirdre suggested that colour is crucial, advising that for “added style points”, ladies should try to select their most flattering neutral colour for this item.<\/p>\n
Then, choose additional pieces around that tone or in colours which complement your chosen neutral. She explained: “It will be so much easier to create cohesive outfits that way.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
According to the expert, in addition to a classic skirt, all women over 50 must own one key accessory.<\/p>\n
Forget shoving everything into your pockets and looking bulky, Deirdre told the ladies to invest in a “tote back to throw everything in”.<\/p>\n
This accessory should preferably be in a neutral shade such as black, brown or tan, as this “will go with everything”, or in your own personal neutral shade of choice. She said: “Then, you don\u2019t have to find a different bag for each outfit!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The expert added: “The larger size tote bags are perfect for combining functionality and style.<\/p>\n
“Alternatively, you could take the opportunity to create a statement with your choice of bag. How about bright cherry red, the colour of the season and so cheerful too!”<\/p>\n
