What On Earth Is It (You Take Me For?) \u2013 written by sax player Lee \u2018Kix\u2019 Thompson and guitarist Chrissy Boy Foreman tips its funky hat to the late, great Ian Dury, whom Lee adored.<\/p>\n
Dury would surely have approved of \u201cYou bend me like a pretzel, now I\u2019m down on the floor\u201d and \u201cThe ninth bell tolls and it\u2019s Pussy Galore\u201d. Is There Anybody Out There? is a wideboy joy tinged with jazz funk: \u201cI sell ice to Eskimos for tuppence a bag\u201d.<\/p>\n
Former teenage thief Lee\u2019s bittersweet Baby Burglar is part confessional.<\/p>\n
Theatre Of The Absurd comes with \u201cthe cruellest cabaret, the blackest black comedy\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The North Londoners have released concept albums before, of course. Since this one is based in a theatre, the 14 songs are punctuated with short bursts of spoken word from actors.<\/p>\n
Genuine national treasures, Madness have been a part of our lives for more than 43 years.<\/p>\n
Their first two albums went platinum and two of their last three albums were Top Five. Can their 13th with its mouthful of a name follow suit?<\/p>\n
