Tomatoes grow best in these optimal conditions – too hot and they won’t ripen

The soil used for tomato plants should be well-draining with a pH of 5.8 to 7. Generally speaking, however, the fruit will grow in almost every type of soil, except clay. 

Tomato seeds can be grown outdoors or can be jump started inside. To matter what, the outdoor soil should be warm before sowing seeds or planting your indoor tomato plants. 

After planting outside, be sure to place a stake, trellis or cage near the plant immediately.
