Primark’s first new store to open will be as soon as next month with a new branch opening in Bury St Edmunds on March 6.

Stores in Teesside Park and Glasgow Fort will open later this year.

The fashion retailer also confirmed it will be opening two new locations in Epsom, Surrey, and Newbury, Berkshire but these will open from 2025.

The leading international clothing retailer said today it plans to invest more than £100million into its UK stores which includes extending some of its current branches.

Primark Westfield Stratford will almost double in size jumping from 45,100 sq ft to 81,000 sq ft with an extra two floors being added to the space.

The store will become the second-largest in London, behind Primark on Oxford Street, and will create an extra 250 new jobs.

Primark Metrocentre in Gateshead, Tyneside will also be increased to almost 80,000 sq ft once it reopens later this year.

In total, the new stores and extensions will create almost 700 new jobs in a welcome boost for the British high street.

The fashion retailer also plans to refurbish 15 locations and relocate stores in Bradford, High Wycombe and Bolton to new and improved sites.

Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said: “We’ve changed a lot in the 50 years since we opened the doors on our first store in Great Britain in Derby back in 1974, but at our heart, we are still the same.

“We’re as committed as ever to offering the very best value on the high street and making great fashion more affordable and accessible for everyone.
