A man has been arrested and charged after a rock was thrown at actor Michael Stuhlbarg in New York.
The Boardwalk Empire star suffered a cut after the “unknown object” struck him in the back of the neck while he was walking in New York City, according to officers.
The 55-year-old then chased the suspect until officers stopped the man and took him into custody.
Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Xavier Israel, a homeless man, who was arrested and charged on Sunday.
The New York City Police Department said the “assault” took place close to 90th Street and East Drive and Stuhlbarg didn’t want medical treatment afterwards.
The American actor, who received an Emmy nomination in 2022 as former president of Purdue Pharma Richard Sackler in Dopesick – which examines the US opioid crisis, was near Central Park at around 7.45pm local time on Sunday when the incident happened.
He also received an Emmy nod for his part in drama The Looming Tower, which tracks a feud between the CIA and FBI, giving rise to Al Qaeda and eventually the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
