Little-known detail hiding in every single Wetherspoons pub you’ve probably never noticed

He previously said: “We place particular emphasis on the design of our new pubs, investing heavily in every aspect, as well as in the refurbishment of our older premises.

“With more than 900 pubs, that is a lot of carpet. All of our new pub carpets are individually designed, some with details to reflect aspects of the building’s history or local area.”

However, one person has picked up upon this comment to see the method behind the madness.

Kit Caless, who hails from London, has created an online catalogue showcasing the designs of the Spoon’s carpets. Even better, there are ones from all over the UK naming it perfectly as ‘Wetherspoons Carpets’.

He admitted that he was “amazed to learn that each one has a totally unique carpet” with his daughters encouraging him to start a website documenting all the different ones that are out there.

Caless started the project in 2016 but has seen help from other fans of the pub chain who also submit the bold carpets that they find.

And they don’t come cheap as reports have shown each carpet is custom to each pub.

They’re made by luxury carpet manufacturer Axminster Carpets on a traditional loom, which can cost between a staggering £20,000 to £30,000.

So the next time you’re in a Wetherspoons you might want to take note of the carpet or submit your find on the catalogue website.
