Kevin Costner’s son makes acting debut in Yellowstone star’s new film | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Kevin Costner has revealed he cast his own son in his new film Horizon: An American Saga so they could “hang out”.

15-year-old Hayes, who was 13 at the time of filming, made his acting debut in the trailer for the two-part cinematic event released on Monday.

In the preview of his scene, Hayes is acting alongside actress Sienna Miller, who is presumably portraying his mother in the Western drama.

He’s helping Sienna’s character and a young girl, probably his sister, into a hidden shelter while their home is attacked in the action-packed scene.

“It’s all right – I’m gonna be with Dad,” he tells them, before shutting the door.

Kevin previously teased his son was “very good” in the film during a chat with People in 2022.

“Hayes plays the namesake character that I actually play in the movie. He’s 13 years old and the screenplay’s been around longer than that,” he said.

The Yellowstone actor shares son Hayes with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, and admitted the casting decision was an excuse for them both to spend more time together.

“I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me,” Kevin said.

“And the same thing for Cayden, same thing for Grace.

“I’m like any other parent, I’m trying to figure out, like, ‘This is really neat. You should come be with me.’”

Horizon is intended to be a four-part cinematic saga, though at the moment just two parts are completed and ready for release this year.

A synopsis says the blockbuster series “explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won – and lost – through the blood, sweat and tears of many.”

Kevin also shares son Cayden, 16, and daughter Grace, 13, with his ex Christine, as well as daughters Annie and Lily and sons Joe and Liam from past relationships.

Horizon: An American Saga premieres on Friday, June 28, and Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount Network.
