Johnny Depp Jack Sparrow Pirates return ‘desired by Disney’ but there’s a catch | Films | Entertainment

[ad_1]

It’s been seven years since Johnny Depp last starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

After the fifth outing, Pirates 6 was in the works with the actor planning on giving a fond farewell to his much-loved swashbuckler.

However, this was thrown in Davy Jones’ locker when Disney dropped the star following domestic abuse allegations by his ex-wife Amber Heard, which he strongly denies.

Since winning his US libel case against her, fans have been hopeful that the 60-year-old will return as the pirate in a new movie, something that producer Jerry Bruckheimer would love to see.

And now a new report claims that the studio does want him back, but there’s a catch.

According to respected and reliable leaker MyTimeToShineHello on X: “I looked into it and Pirates of Caribbean 6 will be set in part in Haiti and the female protagonist will be Haitian.”

This fits with recent reports that The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri is being considered. But the scooper added: “Also they do want Johnny Depp to come back just not as the lead.”

Fans took to the comments to say that not having Jack Sparrow lead the movie would be a terrible idea.

One fan commented: “This movie is going to tank. Can’t do a pirates movie without Depp as the star.”

Others said, “Flop”, “So the franchise is over”, “Bad decision, Bookmark this”, “Woke. Dead on arrival”, “Nobody is going to watch it”, “No Johnny No Pirates”.

However, some pointed out that Sparrow technically wasn’t the lead in the other movies with Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann leading the original trilogy and Carina Barbossa in the latest outing.

Here’s hoping there will be some official news soon.
