How to easily deep clean your dishwasher without using chemicals

[ad_1]

While a dishwasher is meant to clean your plates and cutlery, if it’s not clean itself, don’t expect dazzling results when you open that door.

A dishwasher can collect small bits of food, grease and soap scum over time.

So, if your dishes aren’t coming out spotless after a wash cycle, it’s time to deep clean the dishwasher.

Don’t worry though, as TikTok influencer Caroline McCauley shares her home hack to deep clean your dishwasher in the easiest way possible.

It’s worth noting that the cleaning process is best started first thing in the morning when you know you will be home, or started before going to bed.

To deep clean your dishwasher, first remove the filters and leave them to soak in soapy water within the kitchen sink.

The next step is to add baking soda to the dishwasher and let it sit for a few hours.

Whether you do the above steps first thing in the morning, or late at night, is up to you.

Fast-forward to a few hours later, replace the filters, set the dishwasher to its hottest setting, and put on a wash.

During mid-cycle, open the dishwasher, place a bowl of vinegar on the top rack, and then resume the dishwasher cycle.

“Congratulations, you’re done,” the voiceover said on the TikTok video.

Now that your dishwasher has had a deep clean, you can rest assured that your dishes will come out sparkly clean once more.

One follower said: “Your videos and hacks are literally amazing!” Another wrote: “Useful!”

Not everybody was impressed, however, as one fan, Angie, wrote: “I have no removable filter.”

And another, Anna, cautioned: “Do not add vinegar, it will destroy the rubber parts.”

Dishwasher manufacturers recommend using a proper dishwasher cleaner, such as Crystale Easy Pour Dishwasher Salt, which is £1.75 from Asda.

The product claims to “protect against limescale marks” and helps to “protect your machine”.
