Some people exlplained the science behind the hack. One wrote: “That’s actually great science! both salt and mint extract from the toothpaste dry out the carapace of the ants so they try to avoid It at any cost.”

And someone had their own tip to get rid of ants. They wrote: “Using a mixture of Borax, Sugar, Water soaked with a cotton ball placed in the ant trail kills the nest in 2 days.”

An additional TikTok user suggested: “Salt and water with peppermint essential oil. The [peppermint] in the toothpaste is what the ants hate. just use the oil. Stronger and works better.”
