According to The Sun, legal papers show Freddie Mercury’s name has been reserved for “immersive 3D virtual, augmented and mixed reality experiences” and for “virtual environments”. Mercury Song Limited’s trademark will also cover video games.

Express.co.uk reached out to Queen’s reps for comment and the response was “Nothing to say”.

Nevertheless, Sir Brian May spoke out on the possibility of a Freddie hologram last year and he’s very open to the whole band eventually being recreated in a show like ABBA Voyage.

According to the outlet, Sir Brian said: “We’ve talked about and looked at holograms of Freddie. We love to be live and dangerous, that’s it, that’s our emphasis.

“Now, when we’re all gone, yeah sure, make an ABBA thing about us, but while we’re here I want to play live.”
