Cleaning hack using water and lemon to make your microwave sparkly clean

[ad_1]

Rather than tilting your head sideways and up, scrubbing away, one simple hack can cut through the grease fast.

Thea Whyte, an expert at AO.com – an online retailer for small appliances – recommended the “best way” to quickly clean your microwave.

Whyte said: “The best way to get rid of vibrant stains on the inside of your microwave is to steam the interior of the appliance.”

How to do this

First, fill a microwavable bowl with one cup of water and a whole sliced lemon.

Second, put the water and lemon-filled bowl into the microwave for five minutes.

Whyte said: “Once the time is up, leave the door closed for around 10 minutes to allow the steam to loosen any stains around the microwave.”

After the wait, which you can use to get on with other things or to relax, all you need to do is wipe away the grime with a clean cloth.

For an even more simple solution, although a bit pricier, you can use Amazon’s Choice product for a microwave cleaner.

The Angry Mama Microwave Oven Steam Cleaner, priced at £5.98, makes cleaning the microwave even easier.

Instead of cutting up a lemon, all you need to do is add vinegar and water to the product, then microwave for seven minutes.

To help prevent stains from forming on your microwave in the first place, getting a microwave plate cover is useful.

However, it’s best to rinse the microwave plate cover after every use to keep it clean.

You can get a microwave plate cover on Amazon for as little as £4.99.

Even better yet, if you have a Dunelm near you, you can pick one up for £3.50 – and you won’t have to worry about delivery charges.

It’s a good idea to keep your microwave and microwave plate cover clean, otherwise, older food pieces could drop into the lunch or dinner you were heating up.

And while that is a gross prospect to think about, it could happen to you if you’re not on top of cleaning.
