People often talk about how women can look younger, but there are many ways men can do it too.
Teeth whitening, skincare, cosmetic treatment and hair cut and colour are all viable ways to reverse the clock, but according to Saga, revamping your wardrobe is another way to go.
The over 50s magazine suggested that mature men may shy away from wearing jeans – but they shouldn’t.
The experts said: “Older men tend to avoid denim, perhaps because of an association with work clothes, but a well-fitting pair of jeans will instantly knock 10 years off you.
“While suit trousers may be what you’re used to, they’re intended to be worn – and look best as – part of a suit, something you probably don’t put on every day.
“The fact that your shoulders may not be quite as square as they were and that your middle may have extended over the years also means that it’s more difficult to carry off a pair of suit trousers with style.”
Jeans are super versatile and can be dressed up or down. You can also go for a variety of colours, cut and stitching.
Lighter colours could be considered more casual, while the over 50s mag recommended darker colours for fancier events.
The experts at Saga advised: “Opt for darker colours and straight leg if you’re going for a smarter look but above all, get a good fit.”
When buying a pair of jeans ensure they aren’t too tight around the middle – you don’t want your belly to hang out – or saggy around the bottom.
Finding the right pair of jeans might require shopping around a little but it’s well worth the investment.
Another anti-ageing tip for men is to keep facial hair in check. The experts said: “Your bushy brows may have come across as sexy when they were dark and you had hair on your head, but you need to tame those wild things if you want to look younger.”
Trim excessively long eyebrow hairs or have your brows done professionally.
Watch out for any unwanted hair in the nose or ear areas and invest in a trimmer to keep hair at a length its not visible to others.
